The Element of Texture in an Image

The Element of Texture in an Image

On my evening run I made several images and this one was a pleasant surprise. I initially wanted to get a view of my favorite subject, Table Mountain, from a low vantage point with a sweeping view of the beach in the foreground. When I got home and looked at the image on the computer I immediately realized that what I captured really was not about Table Mountain, but of the texture of the sand in the foreground. While the mountain is there and is certainly pleasing, I was more interested on how you could see the individual grains of sand which is the texture in the image. Surprisingly enough, I got this amount of detail with my iPhone.

"African Runner" Cape Town

"African Runner" 19/365
I was out for a run on my Cape Town beach, and making sunset images when I saw another runner coming my way. I waited for him to enter the frame anticipating a silhouette caused by the sunset. #365project #iphoneography #capetown #beachrun #sunset #melkbosstrand.

Making a simple image a little more interesting and dramatic!

Let It Be dancers from Dance Attack at the Diplomat Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. Taken by Ana with an iPhone 4S and manipulated in a couple of programs for effect. Now you don't need fancy computer programs to do this there are thousands of apps on your phone that can come pretty close. Search the app store for photography. 2012 Art Wynwood

[nggallery id=2]

I photographed the 2012 Art Wynwood VIP / Press Preview Night and After Party at Wynwood Walls for NewTimes Miami. Here are selected images from that event. The art was amazing. About thirty percent was photography. Of course I was very focused on the photography. Photographers, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andy Warhol,  and Douglas Kirkland were among the most notable ones featured.

More iPhoneography

This image was taken with my iPhone early this morning. I adjusted it in-camera using three different apps: Red Camera, Photoshop for iPhone, and Impressions. I recently started experimenting with a lot of different types of programs to manipulate images. It's a lot of fun and produces interesting results. There's a lot of opinions on this type of manipulation. Art is art and in the eye of the beholder.

Iphoneography

Decided to try my hand at manipulating a simple image taken with my iPhone. All manipulations were done with Adobe Photoshop Express for the iPhone. There is an exhibit by Jaime Ferreyros coming up at MAGQ Gallery. He works almost exclusively with the iPhone. I see this as another tool to express creativity. As I always say, "the best camera is the one you have with you."
