I made a couple of images of this Skateboarder while he was sitting. I liked the scene from behind him as he was looking out toward Muizenberg Beach, False Bay, and the Cape of Good Hope in the background. Yes, nothing but water between here and Antarctica. But I preferred this image as it is more dynamic. I like the way he is turning away, almost as if he is turning away from surfing to go Skateboard, while the girl in the bottom is entering the frame. Or maybe he has to go use the restroom LOL! Muizenberg is the beach and the town, however, False Bay is the body of water that it fronts. There is a small granite island in the bay called Seal Island, which is one of the main breeding sites for the Cape Fur Seal. The seals attract many Great White Sharks and some of the biggest sharks ever seen have been spotted in these waters. These sharks are famous for the manner in which they breach the surface of the water while attacking seals, sometimes jumping entirely out of the ocean. Despite this, swimming, surfing, yachting, scuba diving and so on are popular pastimes around the bay, at centres such as Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Smitswinkel Bay, Strand and Gordon's Bay. Shark attacks are generally uncommon but by no means unknown, with two deaths since 2010. Skateboarder on Muizenberg Beach - 137/365
Full Double Rainbow in my Backyard - 136/365
Yes, this is real. I made this image as a panorama so that I could fit in the rainbow end to end. I did enhance the blue of the sky so that the second more faint rainbow was visible. Never seen anything like this. I do have witnesses! Full Double Rainbow in my Backyard - 136/365
Nuclear Moonlight - 135/365
Koeberg Nuclear Training Center under Moonlight. Yeah, I know, gotcha with the title LOL. Image made after a late night at work with a full moon. Nuclear Moonlight - 135/365

The mural of the motto of my gym. Virgin Active is part of Virgin. This is the company started by Sir Richard Branson.
My attempt at Still Life - 133/365
This project is all about experimentation. What's good about not being in Miami is that I have the freedom to dedicate all of my time to personal projects and try things I never concentrated on. I made this image in Cape Town City Center while waiting for a burger at one of the best burger places in the city: The Royale Eatery. 133/365

Image of Muizenberg, Cape Town, South Africa - 130/365
This is the typical image of Muizenberg. Everything that it is famous for in one shot. The Mountains, the Beach, the Surfer, the Colorful Cabanas, the Water, and the Shark Flag. Oh and as an extra added bonus, notice the surfboard painted in the colors of the South African Flag. I could not have staged a better representation of Muizenberg. I love the place! It really grows on you.
Surfing Obama - 129/365
I guess it was destiny when my sister gave me this bottle (beer) opener much to the chagrin of my parents. My destiny was to drink beer and surf in Cape Town while thinking of my President and my Granddaughters who made me the "Paper Ironman Ring with Kisses". I saw this on my dresser and had to make the image. Too funny!
Once a Beer Snob, Always a Beer Snob! - 128/365
Most of my friends in the States were familiar with that look of disgust on my face when a restaurant I went to did not serve Samuel Adams Boston Lager. So it is here that I find my self with that familiar feeling when a Cape Town restaurant does not serve Jack Black. Here I am rejoicing as not only does the Hussar Grill serve Jack Black, but they have the matching glasses as well. The sign of a classy establishment!
Only My Second Time at McDonalds in Cape Town - 127/365
Yes Cape Town is going to Hell. McDonalds is here and thriving. Everything here closes very early and after one of my late Jiu Jitsu classes and realizing I had nothing at my place to eat, I had to stop and get a burger. I felt like taking a shower afterward! My 365 Project 127/365.
The Goof Board - 126/365
I got a Goof Board to practice my balance for surfing. Many of you saw my famous FaceBook post of me falling on my ass while practicing!

Saying Goodbye to 2014 Afrikaburn - 124/365
Leaving 2014 Afrikaburn I was able to await a lull in the people leaving to be able to make an image of the entrance and the gong that Afrikaburn Virgins are to hit on entrance to the festival. It looked a lot different during the day against the morning sky. It was an experience that I was not well prepared for with regard to food, ice, etc. If I am to attend next year I will be better prepared. It is definitely an event that someone in South Africa should attend at least once.
Daytime on the Playa at 2014 Afrikaburn - 123/365
Many of the images I made at Afrikaburn could have been made at Burning Man in the U.S. Most of the images were not uniquely South African. Except for this one. The girl with the South African flag draped around her. I thought it fitting to highlight this one. I really like it. It's contemplative. My 365 Project 123/365.
Arrival at 2014 AfrikaBurn - My 365 Project 122/365
AfrikaBurn is the spectacular result of the creative expression of participants who gather once a year in the Tankwa Karoo to create a temporary city of art, theme camps, costume, music and performance! http://www.afrikaburn.com/
Getting there was a mission. About 3-4 hours from Cape Town including a 113 km Tire Eating dirt road. I was advised to deflate my tires and I made it there and back OK. When I got back to Cape Town I noticed I had a definite slow leak in one of my tires. So I didn't escape unscathed. Lots of color, performances, crazy costumes, awesome landscape and great people.

Another abstract that I made. Am experimenting with some of these after hearing creative photographer David DuChemin expound on expanding your creativity by experimenting. Jiggling Night Lights - My 365 Project 119/365
Skateboard on Bench, Muizenberg, Cape Town, South Africa
When I was in Muizenberg for a surfing lesson one day and a skateboarder set his board down on the bench in the image. Something drew me to make the image and now I know why. The purple of the wheels and the purple on the bench. When you make thousands of images over a lifetime I've been told that this type of dynamic occurs subconsciously. The attraction to colors. Anyway, maybe I'm over-analyzing. I just liked the composition. My 365 Project 118/365.
